Above-Grade Waterproofing

Water is one of the biggest problem-makers for homes and businesses. Flooded basements, leaks, and excess humidity getting in can all cause detrimental damages. Most of the time, these are damages that could have been prevented with proper waterproofing. Above-grade waterproofing refers to flashings, sealants, and membranes that keep your roof, windows, and walls safe from outside elements.

Commercial Waterproofing

Our Above-Grade Systems

Above-grade systems differ greatly from below-grade waterproofing. Coatings need to be breathable to allow water vapor to escape from interior surfaces. Above-grade products should also be UV-resistant because they are exposed to sunlight. Basically, above-grade products used will experience more wear and tear from outside elements and extreme temperatures than below-grade ones. At JM Caulking and Construction Services, the systems we use are:

  • Cost-effective
  • Breathable
  • UV resistant
  • Corrosion resistant
  • Aesthetically pleasing

Commercial Applications

Waterproofing is a very important step in any commercial construction process. Designing a system for total protection includes several components that need to be carefully selected for performance. Whether for horizontal or vertical surfaces, a combination of installations must be used to compose a building envelope.

Horizontal applications are typically concrete slabs and other structural systems that serve as a roof or walkway. Waterproofing can be installed on either the top or bottom of the slab, depending on the project. For vertical above-grade walls, our solutions include fluid-applied membranes, sheet membranes, and sealers. Our clear sealers can be applied over concrete, stone, and masonry without compromising the aesthetic of the building. Commercial applications we offer include:

  • Balconies
  • Parking garages
  • Rooftop terraces
  • Vertical walls
